Nanopartz™ Organic Gold Nanoparticles includes the full line of monodisperse spherical, gold nanorods, Microgold™, gold nanowires, and Plasmonic Fluorophore™ product familes for use in organic applications. This product offers four different options: (1) Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP); (2) Polystyrene; (3) our proprietary Nanopartz™ Organic coating; and (4) our proprietary Nanopartz™ Organic conductive coating. Our proprietary Nanopartz™ Organic Gold Nanoparticles are guaranteed in every solvent (please contact us for solvents not listed in the following table). Every batch is completely characterized. A Certificate of Analysis (COA) is provided for every order exhibiting TEM and UV-VIS images and data, as well as DLS data. Composition

These gold nanorods are shipped standard in a small amount (0.2mL) of a short chained alkane alcohol which makes the material a metamaterial. The product has a zeta charge of +/-5 mV depending on the construct.

Quantity

This product is available in 2.5mg and 5mg for the spheres, OD 50 and 250 for the nanorods and Plasmonic Fluorophores™ and 0.25mg for the microgold and nanowires. For larger orders, please contact sales for quantity pricing.

Conjugation

This product is not conjugatable.

Use

Add solvent dropwise to nanomaterial. Disperse using sonication or vortexing. Organic nanoparticles will stay suspended from days to weeks depending on solvent. Suspension may be monitored through UV-VIS spectra.

Shelf Life/Storage Temperature

This product is guaranteed for one year and may be stored at room temperature.

Toxicity

The cytotoxicity of this product is unknown.

This product is manufactured using our audited ISO 9000/2001 quality control system. Every order comes with a Certification of Analysis that includes the following information. We use NIST traceable:

UV-VIS (Agilent 8453) for extinction and concentration measurements

NIR (Cary 500) for NIR extinction and concentration measurements

DLS (Malvern Nano ZS) for zeta potential measurement

ICP-MS (Varian 820-MS) for gold mass measurements

TEM (Phillips CM-100 100KV) for sizing

Detailed Specifications

For detailed specifications, please refer to the product family pages for those products. The coating compounds adds an unmeasurable thickness to the particles as the PDI of the particles is greater than the thickness of the polymer.

These particles utilize a Nanopartz™ formulated coating that shields the particle from the effects of abrasive solvents, and yet, still provide the optical properties inherent to the particles. The coating, whether it be PVP, Polystyrene, or our ligands, are not able to be further modified.

How much thickness does your proprietary capping agent add?

It is less than the variablility of the size of the nanoparticles themselves, so it is unmeasurable.

How do I determine the concentration of the product?

Simply divide the number of nanoparticles (nps) found on the included COA by the amount of solvent you add.

Why do you sell your rods as OD-mLs and what does this mean?

This is because unlike spherical gold nanoparticles, the conversion from OD to mg is not linear with nanorod diameter. Consequently, for the same OD, the weight of the nanorods increases with diameter. 50 OD-mLs means that if you resuspend the material in 1mL of solvent, you will have an absorption of OD50 through a 1mL optical path.

Can I resuspend in water?

No.

Can I suspend in silicon oil?

Yes.

Will the SPR wavelength shift with different solvents?

The SPR is a function of the index of refraction of the host solvent in which the nanoparticles are suspended. Nanorods are the most sensitive and are therefore a great tool for measuring the index of refraction of the host.

What is the shelf life if I never open the package?

1 year.

Should I store in the refrigerator?

It is not necessary.

Is this product good for spin coating?

Yes, if brought up in ethanol, they make for a very good material.
